Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The wonderful Washington scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Skykomish River beats anything. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There
are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite
near the river where you can camp. This section of Skykomish River in Snohomish County is 4.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+(IV) section.
Briefly about the general area: Skykomish River is a wet spot that gets a good deal of precipitation; the month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. It's always great to have a look at Bridal Veil Falls. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Skykomish River while night lows are generally in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Skykomish River dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
