  The put-in is not too far from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Sunset Falls to Railroad Bridge stretch of Skykomish River in Washington is 4.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+(IV) section of whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No
    matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are plenty of other sections in this river
system that can be paddled as well. The campgrounds here at Skykomish River are pretty good. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The nature  
scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile.

Briefly about the general area:
The nice people of Index like to hang out nearby, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Bridal Veil Falls. So much cool stuff in the Northern Cascade Range, just phenomenal. Wallace Falls State Park is a glorious location to stretch your legs a bit. For the duration of the summertime months highs here at Skykomish River get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. During the winter highs are frequently in the 40's with temperatures at Skykomish River dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
