Washington whitewater - Skykomish River, Northern Cascade Range, Snohomish County
Snohomish
county,
Railroad Bridge to Big Eddy section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 2.5 miles
If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This section of Skykomish River is 2.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. The campgrounds here at Skykomish River
are pretty good. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river
in one stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Skykomish River comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Through the winter highs are generally in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Skykomish River temperatures plunge to the 30's. Skykomish River gets much water; most of the rain falls throughout December, and July on the other hand is the driest.
