If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. If you're coming from Port Angeles it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations
in advance you're all set. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. This section of Snahapish River in Jefferson County is 3.5 miles long
and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+(IV) section. Snahapish River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the C-2700 Bridge to Clearwater River section is the only one. The campgrounds here at Snahapish River are pretty good. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. The scenic beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Snahapish River a wet place; the wettest month of
the year is generally December, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is August. At Snahapish River through the summertime months highs are in the 70's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. During the winter highs are commonly in the 40's, and
night lows at Snahapish River all through the wintertime frequently drop into the 30's. A spree to Snahapish River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Crooks Rapids.
