If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. The Salmon Cascade to FR 2918 Bridge section of Soleduck River in Washington is 3.1 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting point is
not too far from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there
are others too. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There's camping available near Soleduck River. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Soleduck River generally tend to be in the 70's; the overnight is fairly chillier of course, regularly
in the 40's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Soleduck River tend to be in the 30's. Going for a hike on the Aurora Trail is always a tremendous adventure. The high level of rain makes Soleduck River a quite wet place; November is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is July.
