If you're coming from Port Angeles it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Klahowya Campground to Bear Creek section of Soleduck River in Clallam County is 7.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+ section. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic Mountains is a great experience. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers
for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for
lots of people. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.

of rainfall; November is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is July. Throughout the summertime at Soleduck River temperatures are mostly in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Soleduck River temperatures dip to the 30's.
