The put-in location is a short drive from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The wonderful Clallam County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. And
of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Bear Creek to Hatchery section of Soleduck River is 6.3 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Bear Creek to Hatchery stretch is
just one of them. The beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: Soleduck River ordinarily gets much rain; the month with most of the rain is November, and July is the month with the least moisture. It's always fine to have a look at
Beaver Falls. Summertime highs at Soleduck River typically tend to be in the 70's; the night is a bit cooler of course, ordinarily in the 40's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 40's, and night lows through the winter for Soleduck River tend to be in the 30's.
