The put-in location is a short drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down South Praire Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The East Fork to Spiketon Road section of South Praire Creek in Washington is 6.6 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit
more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the East Fork to Spiketon Road section is one of them. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming
from far and near. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. There's camping available near South Praire Creek.
Briefly about the general area: At South Praire Creek through the summertime months highs are in the 70's. During the
dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at South Praire Creek dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. South Praire Creek is a wet spot that gets a great deal of precipitation; all through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and July is the month with the least moisture.
