If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can     camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. The East Fork to Spiketon Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The East Fork to Spiketon Road stretch of South Praire Creek in Pierce County is 6.6 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: South Praire Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one   with the most rain, and July is when it's the driest. During the days of summer at South Praire Creek highs are typically in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at South Praire Creek are in the 30's.
