CLASS II-III+ 6.5 miles
This section of Spokane River is 6.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Spokane, as you can see on the road map further down. The beautiful scenery of Spokane County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other spots for that. No need
to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find
the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: A short spree to Bowl and Pitcher is always worthwhile. Not much rain falls here at Spokane River; the wettest month of the year is generally December, that's the one that snows the most; July on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the summertime at Spokane River temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and
during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Spokane River.
