Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. Sullivan section of Sullivan River in Washington is 1.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or
kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. The wonderful Pend Oreille County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Sullivan River. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Sullivan River. Sullivan River gets very little rainfall; December is the wettest month with most snow, and the driest month of the year is September.
