The Soda Springs to Highway 123 stretch of Summit Creek in Lewis County is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The beautiful scenery of Lewis County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. And of course, there are
campgrounds nearby. The Soda Springs to Highway 123 section is the only paddling section along Summit Creek. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. Whether
you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
Briefly about the general area: At Summit Creek through the months of summer highs are in the 70's, and the overnight is a little chillier of course, usually in the 40's. Highs throughout the winter are frequently in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Summit Creek sink into the 20's. This river is so good.
A short trip to Fish Ladder Falls is always worthwhile, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Sheep Lake Trail. This place, the Northern Cascade Range, has so much outdoors enjoyable things. Palisades is an out of the ordinary thing to make out if you're here at Summit Creek,
and the Boundary Trail offers hiking at its best. Summit Creek is a wet location that gets a lot of precipitation; January is the month that gets the most snow; July on the other hand is the driest.
