Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Centralia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The Morton to Bremer stretch of Tilton River in Lewis County is 8.5 miles long and is according
to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. There's camping available near Tilton River. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The scenic beauty of Lewis County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus.
Briefly about the general area: A short visit to Weasel Spring is always worthwhile. For the duration
of the warm days of summer highs here at Tilton River get into the 70's while nighttime lows are generally in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Tilton River fall into the 30's. Tilton River is a wet place that gets lots of rain; December is when you get the most rain here while July is commonly the driest month.
