The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Green River to South Fork confluence section of Toutle River - North Fork in Cowlitz County is 10 miles long and has been rated as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd     better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Green River to South Fork confluence section is one of them. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came.
