The natural beauty of Skamania/Klickitat County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Trout Lake Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Trout Lake to White Salmon
River stretch is the only one. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. This section of Trout Lake Creek in Washington is 2.8 miles long and it is classified as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The campgrounds here at Trout Lake Creek are pretty good. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more.
