CLASS IV-V     6.3 miles
The nature scenery of Skamania County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The FR 43 to Wind River stretch of Trout Creek in Skamania County is 6.3 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling stretch along Trout Creek. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The starting location is a reasonable
drive from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip.
