This stretch of Tshletshy River in Washington is 20 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The natural beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of
good places for that around here. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a
very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Tshletshy River are pretty good. The starting point is not too far from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Headwaters to Queets Campground section is the only paddling section along Tshletshy River.
Briefly about the general area: All through the warm months, highs typically are in the 70's
at Tshletshy River. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are commonly in the 40's while Tshletshy River nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 30's. Tshletshy River gets a good deal of water; during the month of December you get the most rain around here; August is the month with the least moisture.
