If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nature scenery of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Twisp River attract people from near and far. There are no other sections to paddle along Twisp River than the Buttermilk Creek to town of Twisp section. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. When you're paddling
down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. This stretch of Twisp River in Okanogan County is 10 miles long and it is classified
as a class III section by American Whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Not much rainfall falls here at Twisp River; December is the month that gets the most snow while July is the month with the least amount
of precipitation. And that's not all there is to do here in the Northern Cascade Range. High temperatures at Twisp River all through the summer are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's, and night lows in the 10's for Twisp River.
