The nature scenery of Clark/ Skamania County and the water flowing gracefully down Washougal River beats anything. The starting point is not too far from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch has has enough mileage,
it's good length for a morning trip. This stretch of Washougal River in Washington is 7.3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The
beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The Highway 140 to Washougal section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for
more.
