The put-in is not too far from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Highway 140 to Washougal section of Washougal River in Clark/ Skamania County is 7.3 miles long and
is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A good workout and just being
out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Highway 140 to Washougal section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty
decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip.

July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the period of the long summer days highs here at Washougal River reach the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. Through the winter highs are regularly in the 40's, and night lows in the 30's for Washougal River.
