  The nature scenery of Chelan County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The Lake Wenatchee State Park to Tumwater Campground stretch of Wenatchee River in Chelan County is 16.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state
    is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the
Lake Wenatchee State Park to Tumwater Campground stretch is one of them. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. The put-in is not too far from Ellensburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.

The warmest time of the year brings
 
highs in the 70's to Wenatchee River. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Wenatchee River temperatures plunge to the 10's. Wenatchee River is a good spot of normal precipitation; most of the snow falls during January, and the driest month is July.
Near Wenatchee River you find magnificent sites like Deadhorse Canyon, and the trees of Leavenworth Ranger District are a magnificent source of shade on hot summer days. So many fun things in the Northern Cascade Range, just mind-boggling.
