The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The beautiful scenery of Chelan County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Ellensburg, as you can see on the road map further down. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have
a lot of people coming here. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. On this section you do get some distance,
suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Tumwater Campground to Leavenworth section of Wenatchee River in Chelan County is 7.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section.
Briefly about the general area: If you're into cool geologic marks, try Castle Rock, and brilliant hiking is available along the Snow Lakes Trail. Through the warmest time of the year at Wenatchee River temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the
40's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Wenatchee River dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. From a precipitation point of view Wenatchee River is a relatively common site; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
