The nature scenery of Whatcom County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The put-in location is a short drive from Bellingham, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Whatcom Creek in Washington is 2 miles long and is a class III-IV+(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The Lake Whatcom to Yew St. Bridge section is the only paddling section along Whatcom Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number
of paddling rivers. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. This is a short paddling stretch so
it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Whatcom Creek tend to be in the 30's. Whatcom Creek is a good spot of typical precipitation; during December this area sees the most rain; July is the month with the least moisture.
