Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The natural beauty of Whatcom County and the water flowing gracefully down Whatcom Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Lake Whatcom to Yew St. Bridge section of Whatcom Creek in Whatcom County is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV+(V+) section of whitewater. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. The campgrounds here at Whatcom Creek are pretty good. There are no other stretches to paddle along Whatcom Creek
than the Lake Whatcom to Yew St. Bridge stretch. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Bellingham, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.

December is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. During the months of summer, highs usually are in the 70's at Whatcom Creek while overnight lows are regularly in the 50's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Whatcom Creek. You'll meet a lot of people from Bellingham here.
