The nature scenery of Whatcom County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. There are plenty of hotels here
if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whatcom Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Lake Whatcom to Yew St. Bridge stretch is the only one. The Lake Whatcom to Yew St. Bridge section of Whatcom Creek
is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV+(V+) section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy.
