  This section of White Salmon River is 8.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV(V) section. If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. No matter
    if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The wonderful Washington scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. This is a pretty decent
length section, it's good length for a morning trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Cascade Creek to Trout Lake section is just one of many.

All through the warm months at White Salmon River temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's while White Salmon River overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's.
White Salmon River gets a large amount of water; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month is July.
