This section of White Salmon River is 8.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV(V) section. If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. length section, it's good length for a morning trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Cascade Creek to Trout Lake section is just one of many.
