  The starting location is a short drive from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
    And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of

The natural beauty of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down White Salmon River have people coming here. The warmest time of
 
the year brings highs in the 80's to White Salmon River. Summer night lows drop down to the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at White Salmon River are in the 20's. A fine site near White Salmon River is Trout Lake Valley.
White Salmon River is a relatively wet place frequently with a good deal of rainfall; December is the wettest month with most snow, and July is when it's the driest.
