  If you're coming from Hood River it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Buck Creek to Columbia River stretch is just one of many. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up
    sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. No matter
if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The wonderful Klickitat County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. The beauty of the Central Cascade Range is a great plus for this river.

Briefly about the general area:
White Salmon River is a wet place that gets a large amount of rain; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July is the month with the least moisture. Be careful coming to the Central Cascade
 
Range, you might not ever want to go home again.
High temperatures at White Salmon River during the summertime months are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at White Salmon River temperatures fall to the 20's. Hood River Valley is a great site to visit nearby; Koberg Beach is pretty nearby if you're in a beach type of mood.
