Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The Falls Creek to Mineral Springs Road section of Wind River in Skamania County is 3.4 miles long and it is classified as a class III+ section by American Whitewater. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. The natural
beauty of Skamania County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions
for lots of people. There's camping available near Wind River. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Falls Creek to Mineral Springs Road section is just one of many.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Wind River generally tend to be in the 70's
with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's while Wind River overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 30's. A trip to Wind River wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Tyee Springs, and there is a great hiking
trail close by called the Soda Peaks Trail. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Northern Cascade Range is excellent! On a nice day at Wind River you can take a hike along the Paradise Trail. Wind River is a relatively wet place frequently with much rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly December, that's the one that rains the most while July is commonly the driest month.
