If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The natural beauty of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Getting your paddling muscles
activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Aberdeen, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead
and pack your camp stove. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling section along Wynoochee River. The beauty of the Olympic Mountains is a great plus for this river. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. This section of Wynoochee River in Grays Harbor County is 11.1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater
to be a class II-III(V) section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
