The scenic beauty of Greenbrier County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There's camping available near Anthony Creek. A bit of exercise and spending
some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch of Anthony Creek in Greenbrier County is 5.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. There
are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Anthony Creek a rather wet place; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is January. The Blue Bend Loop Trail is a delightful hiking trail close to Anthony Creek. There is a magnificent hiking trail near Anthony Creek called the
Peach Orchard Trail, and since you're here, you might as well go to Big Draft. The warmest time of the year at Anthony Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's; the night is a little cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; overnight lows at Anthony Creek throughout the winter regularly sink into the 10's.
