Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This section of Anthony Creek in Greenbrier County is 5.4 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Greenbrier County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up
quick. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are a few other sections in this
river system that can be paddled as well. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Peach Orchard Trail is pleasant fun. Take a hike on the Blue Bend Loop Trail, and nearby Big Draft is a splendid location to go. Throughout the months of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Anthony Creek. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime
are in the 40's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Anthony Creek tend to be in the 10's. Anthony Creek is a wet location that gets a good deal of rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.
