West Virginia whitewater - Arbuckle Creek, Fayette County Fayette county, Oak Hill to New section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     3.7 miles   The starting point is not too far from Oak Hill, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Arbuckle Creek is 3.7 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will     have you coming back for more. This stretch is short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. This is the only paddling stretch along Arbuckle Creek. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Arbuckle Creek a wet site; July is when you get the most rain here; the driest month is February. Here at Arbuckle Creek there are plenty of folks from Oak Hill. Throughout the days of summer here at Arbuckle Creek, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's.
