Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
