  The McDunn to Powellton section of Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork in West Virginia is 3.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The natural beauty of Fayette County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. This is a short paddling stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The campgrounds here at Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork are pretty
    good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. The
average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are  
a few others too.

Near Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork you locate wonderful places like Black Gum Hollow; you without doubt have to go to Hawks Nest State Park if you're here. A tour to Bluestone National Scenic River is recommended; Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork is a site with many visitors from Powellton. This is such a great river. Through the summer highs here at Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork dip into the 20's.
