The McDunn to Powellton section of Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork in Fayette County is 3.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The put-in location is a short drive from Oak Hill, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There aren’t any hotels
    right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This is a short paddling stretch
so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The campgrounds here at Armstrong Creek - Powellton Fork are pretty good.
