Ed Evangelidi is right. Says yukon john
there is a broken out dam just upstream of rt. 93 with easy (but private) access. running the rubble at this dam provides a good gauge of what you will find/need downstream. just remember that this is unposted private property and do not block the road for access by large work vehicles. The Headwaters along Route 93 to Blackwater River stretch of Beaver Creek in Tucker County is 11 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The wonderful Tucker County
scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This is the only paddling section along Beaver Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that
lots of rivers here are good for beginners. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Beaver Creek a wet
site; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. During the warmest time of the year here at Beaver Creek, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's, and the nighttime is rather cooler of course, ordinarily in the
50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Beaver Creek temperatures sink to the 10's.
