This section of Big Coal River - Marsh Fork in Raleigh County is 9 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. |

The nature scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water beats anything. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling
| trip. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Sundial to Whitesville stretch is just one of many.
