West Virginia whitewater - Big Run River, Pendleton County Pendleton county, Confluence with Teeter Camp Run to Cherry Grove section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II+     3.7 miles   The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Big Run River is 3.7 miles long and is a class II+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start     over and over. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Big Run River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Confluence with Teeter Camp Run to Cherry Grove section is the only one. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: The high level of rain makes Big Run River a pretty wet site; during July this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. Have a nice hiking adventure along the Back Ridge Trail, and don't leave Big Run River without first paying a visit to Hendrick Farm Spring. During the days of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Big Run River;   all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Big Run River. Hiking along the Big Mountain Trail is splendid fun.
