The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Blackwater Falls to North Fork Confluence section is just one of them. The wonderful Tucker County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. This is a somewhat short section so better bring some good walking shoes. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the months of summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Blackwater River, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Through the wintertime highs are generally in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Blackwater River. A trip to Blackwater Falls will fill your soul with great feelings; while you're here you can take a hike along the Lindy Run Trail. A great deal of precipitation falls at Blackwater River; during the month of
July you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If the weather is splendid here at Blackwater River, you can go for a hike along the Plantation Trail.
