The beautiful scenery of Tucker County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Lindy Run Trail. Through the summertime here at Blackwater River, high temperatures usually reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Blackwater River. There's good hiking along the Plantation Trail, and Blackwater Falls is a brilliant local attraction. Much rain falls at Blackwater River; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is the driest.
