The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk
your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots
for that. This stretch of Blackwater River in Tucker County is 2.4 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Blackwater Falls to North Fork Confluence stretch is just one of them.
Briefly about the general area: On a perfect day at Blackwater River you can take a hike along the Lindy Run Trail. There is a nice hiking trail right next door to Blackwater River called the Plantation Trail, and a short visit to Blackwater Falls is always worthwhile. The high
level of precipitation makes Blackwater River a pretty wet location; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February. High temperatures at Blackwater River all through the summertime months are in the 80's. Summer overnight
lows sink down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Blackwater River drop into the 10's.
