This section of Blackwater River in Tucker County is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Tucker County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Blackwater River are pretty good.
If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the North Fork Confluence to Hendricks section
is just one of many. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: Through the days of summer here at Blackwater River, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's, and the night is a little chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's; overnight lows at Blackwater River during the winter frequently dip into the 10's. There is a brilliant hiking trail near Blackwater River called the Canyon Rim Trail, and a range like the Backbone Mountain
is always lovely. Blackwater River gets a great deal of water; all through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February. On a great day at Blackwater River you can take a hike along the Limerock Trail.
