This stretch of Bluestone in Mercer/Summers County is 21.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Beckley, as you can see on the road map further down. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. This river system has a few good paddling
stretches and the Eads Mill to Bluestone State Park section is one of them. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The campgrounds here at Bluestone are pretty good. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.
