The starting location is a short drive from Morgantown, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Buffalo Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the West Virginia 72 to Macomber stretch is the only one. There's camping available near Buffalo Creek. have people coming here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The West Virginia 72 to Macomber stretch of Buffalo Creek in Preston County
is 4.9 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip.
Briefly about the general area: Bell Hollow is a great place to spend some time at. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Buffalo Creek. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at
Buffalo Creek dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. A normal amount of precipitation falls here at Buffalo Creek; July is the wettest month with most rain while February is regularly the driest month.
