The Confluence with Taylor Creek to Swandale stretch of Buffalo Creek - Elk Tributary is 4.7 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The natural beauty of West Virginia and the playfulness
of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Confluence with Taylor Creek to Swandale section is the only paddling section along Buffalo Creek - Elk Tributary. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
