This section of Cacapon River in Hampshire County is 12.6 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Winchester, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cacapon River than the US
50 at Capon Bridge to West Virginia 127 Bridge stretch. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in West Virginia are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding.
