The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This stretch of Cheat River - Dry Fork in West Virginia is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The campgrounds here at Cheat River - Dry Fork are pretty good. You
might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Cheat River - Dry Fork without first paying a visit to Pershing Harman Farm Spring, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Little Allegheny Trail. At Cheat River - Dry Fork during the summertime months highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. All through the winter highs are ordinarily in
