This section of Cheat River - Shavers Fork in Pocahontas / Randolph County is 17.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a
while have a lot of people coming here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go
