The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Cheat River - Shavers Fork is 14 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some
time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack
your sleeping bag. The campgrounds here at Cheat River - Shavers Fork are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The nature scenery of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Bemis to Bowden section is just one of them.
