This section of Cherry River - South Fork is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III+ section by American Whitewater. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The campgrounds here at Cherry River - South Fork are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There are
some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Beech Lick Run to Richwood section is one of them. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip.
Briefly about the general area: There's good hiking along the Barrenshe Trail, and the Fork Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cherry River - South Fork a wet place; July is the wettest month with most rain,
