If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside West Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both,     doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. The campgrounds here at Cranberry River are pretty good. The Big Rock Camping Area to Gauley River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section of Cranberry River is 7 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: There is a wonderful hiking trail right next door to Cranberry River called the Perry Ridge Trail, and nearby you discover the Harris Siding Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. Cranberry River commonly gets a great deal of precipitation; July is the month that gets the most rain while January is regularly the driest month. Through   the summertime months here at Cranberry River, high temperatures frequently get into the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Cranberry River.
