The nature scenery of West Virginia and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit     away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: At Cranberry River all through the warm months highs are in the 80's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's; after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Cranberry River sink into the 20's. If the weather is magnificent here at Cranberry River, you can go   for a hike along the Perry Ridge Trail, and the Harris Siding Trail is a great hiking trail close by. Cranberry River frequently gets lots of rain; through July this area sees the most rain; the driest month of the year is January.
