This section of Cranberry River is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. The nature scenery of Nicholas County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are a few other stretches in this     river system that can be paddled as well. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cranberry River; Perry Ridge Trail is a great local trail, and the Harris Siding Trail offers hiking at its best. Cranberry River gets lots of water; during July this area sees the most rain while January is generally the driest month. Summertime highs at Cranberry River generally tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's.
