The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Morgantown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Preston County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This is an extremely short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Deckers Creek gets a common amount of annual rainfall; July is the wettest month with most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. It's always wonderful to visit Maiden Spring.
