The beautiful scenery of Monongalia County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are some good hotels near the
river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The put-in is not too far from Morgantown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further
down the page. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Rt. 7 to Monongahela section is one of them. The Rt. 7 to Monongahela stretch of Deckers Creek in West Virginia is 6 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
