The put-in is not too far from Morgantown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of West Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The Rt. 7 to Monongahela section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This stretch of Deckers Creek is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd
better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.
Briefly about the general area: All through the long summer days, highs generally are in the 80's at Deckers Creek. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are usually in the 30's; overnight lows at Deckers Creek during the wintertime commonly sink into the 10's. Deckers Creek gets a common amount of rainfall; July is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February.
