This stretch of Deer Creek is 5.4 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of West Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Deer Creek will make you feel great. The Confluence with North Fork of Deer Creek to confluence with Greenbrier River section is the only paddling section along Deer Creek. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. A good
workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around
here you'll find a large number of good spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Deer Creek commonly tend to be in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Deer Creek temperatures drop to the 10's. There are brilliant sites to explore along the Little
Mountain Trail. Going for a hike on the Peters Mountain Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and Deer Creek Valley is a magnificent site to spend some time. Much rain falls at Deer Creek; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
