The Confluence with North Fork of Deer Creek to confluence with Greenbrier River section of Deer Creek is 5.4 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The wonderful West Virginia scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling
places. This is the only paddling stretch along Deer Creek. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that
many of the rivers here are not very demanding.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Little Mountain Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and Deer Creek Valley is a magnificent site to stop by. Summertime highs at Deer Creek frequently tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 30's with temperatures at Deer Creek dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. There is a great hiking trail close to Deer Creek called the Peters Mountain Trail. A large amount of rain falls at Deer Creek; most of the rain falls during July; the driest of the months is February.
