The wonderful Mineral County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Upstream to Potomac North Branch Close to Gormania section of Difficult Creek in West Virginia is 4.4 miles long and is a class V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some
good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is the only paddling section along Difficult Creek. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind
that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here.
Briefly about the general area: A tour to Difficult Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Dales Spring. During the warm months highs here at Difficult Creek get into the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Difficult Creek tend to be in the 10's. Difficult Creek gets much water; through the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is regularly the driest month.
