The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the cool fresh water have people coming here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There are no other stretches to paddle along Dunloup Creek than the Harvey to New River at Thurmond stretch. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might
end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. You

wet place mostly with a great deal of precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while February is ordinarily the driest month. Bluestone National Scenic River is one of the destinations in the vicinity of Dunloup Creek that are good to go to; you're sure to come across some good folks from Oak Hill here.
