The Elk Springs to Bergoo stretch of Elk River in Randolph/Webster County is 11.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III+(IV) section by American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. There's camping available near Elk River. The wonderful Randolph/Webster County scenery and the playfulness of the water
make the trip here worthwhile. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: Elk River is a wet place that gets a good deal of rain; July is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest.
