Says Charles Else The beautiful scenery of Preston County and the water flowing gracefully down Elsey Run are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget     that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Morgantown, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The campgrounds here at Elsey Run are pretty good. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about the general area: The dominant feature in the vicinity is the Briery Mountains. Elsey Run gets   a typical amount of yearly rain; during July this area sees the most rain while February is mostly the driest month.
